  • Provides patient care remotely using technology like phones or video conferencing. They assess patients, offer advice, and manage health conditions, often working from home or a triage center. These nurses require strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and tech profi-ciency.

  • Assesses patients’ health concerns and determines the appropriate level of care, all while working remotely, typically via phone or video. They gather information about the patient's symptoms, medical history, and current medications to make informed decisions about whether to recommend self-care, a doctor's appointment, or emergency care. 

  • Facilitates the admission and/or discharge process for patients to and from a healthcare facility, but does so virtually, often via telehealth or phone. This role involves assessing patients, gathering necessary information, and ensuring a smooth transition into or out of the healthcare system. They also play a key role in educating patients and families about the admission/discharge process and provides support. 

  • Provides mental health care services to patients through virtual platforms like video conferencing or phone calls. They assess and treat patients with psychiatric disorders, manage medications, offer counseling, and provide crisis intervention. They also educate patients and their families, coordinate care, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals. 

  • Working from home or another remote location, evaluates the medical necessity and appropriateness of healthcare services. They assess patient records to ensure services align with established guidelines and insurance coverage criteria. This involves reviewing documentation, coordinating with healthcare providers, and determining if requested treatments, procedures, or hospital stays are justified. They may also be involved in authorizing or denying services, negotiating treatment options, and educating stakeholders on coverage decisions. 

  • Provides care coordination, education and support to patients with chronic conditions, primarily through virtual means like phone calls and video chats. They work to improve patient outcomes, reduce hospitalizations, and enhance adherence to treatment plans. This role often involves medication management, appointment scheduling, and addressing patient concerns remotely.

  • Provides virtual health coaching and support to individuals, helping them manage chronic conditions, adopt healthier lifestyles and achieve wellness goals. They combine their nursing expertise with coaching strategies to empower patients through education, guidance, and motivation, all delivered remotely via telehealth platforms, phone calls, or video chats.

  • Assesses and prepares patients for surgery remotely, often via phone or video calls. They review medical histories, assess patient readiness, educate patients about the procedure, and ensure all necessary paperwork and instructions are provided before surgery. They collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patients are well-prepared and ready for their procedures.
